Your Questions, Answered

  • Can you see clients out-of-state?
Not at this time. I’m only able to provide therapy to clients located in Georgia.
  • Do you take insurance?
No, I don’t accept insurance. Here’s why: Insurance companies require a mental health diagnosis, which may not align with your personal healing goals. They also limit session times, which can make deeper, more personalized work difficult. I want you to have therapy on your terms, without jumping through insurance hoops. However, if you have out-of-network benefits, I can provide a superbill so you can request reimbursement from your provider. If you need help navigating this, check out the 'Thrizer 101' FAQ or [A Simple Guide to Using Out-of-Network Benefits for Therapy] at the bottom of this page.
  • Thrizer 101: Fast, Easy Insurance Reimbursement
Q: What is Thrizer? A: Thrizer is a platform that helps you get reimbursed by your insurance company for our sessions. It files claims for you, tracks your reimbursements, and saves you from having to call your insurance provider. Q: Do I still pay you directly? A: Yes. You still pay me at the start of each session through Jane, just like always. Thrizer comes in afterward to help you get reimbursed. Q: How much does Thrizer cost? A: Thrizer has a free option where they handle your claims. If you want to get reimbursed immediately instead of waiting for your insurance, they offer an optional upgrade for a small fee. Q: How do I sign up? A: Just go to www.thrizer.com and create a free account. Once you upload your superbill (I’ll provide it), Thrizer takes it from there. Q: Can Thrizer check if I have out-of-network coverage? A: Yes! They’ll confirm your benefits and let you know what your reimbursement rate looks like. Q: Is it secure? A: Yes. Thrizer follows HIPAA guidelines and encrypts all personal health information.
  • Do you offer reduced-cost sessions?
Yes, I offer sliding scale options when possible. If finances are a concern, reach out, and we’ll see how we can make therapy accessible for you.
  • How long will therapy take?
It depends. In Solution-Focused Therapy, we focus on what’s working, where you want to go, and how to get there. Instead of rigid treatment plans, we define your preferred outcomes—the changes you want to see in your life—and work toward them at a pace that makes sense for you. Some clients find the clarity they need in just a few sessions, while others prefer longer support. We’ll adjust as we go based on what’s working for you.
  • Do you offer free consultations?
Yes! I provide therapy through a group practice that supports individuals working through generational trauma, emotional regulation, and identity-related stress using a culturally responsive approach. If you're interested in working with me, I'd love for you to reach out directly. I offer a complimentary 15-minute phone consultation to discuss your needs and determine if we're a good fit. • Do you meet with people in person or virtually?
Clients may choose between flexible in-person or telehealth talk therapy sessions for accessibility and convenience.
  • Who Do You Work With?
I work with adults in their 20s, 30s, and 40s, navigating stress, trauma, financial challenges, and life transitions. My approach is best suited for those looking for practical strategies, mindset shifts, who are actively seeking change and ready to do the work. If you resonate with my approach and are unsure if we’d be a good fit, feel free to reach out—we can explore whether my services align with your needs.
  • What does the first session look like?
Our first session is about clarity and direction. We’ll talk about where you are now and where you want to be—your preferred outcomes. Instead of focusing solely on problems, we’ll explore what’s already working and how we can build on your strengths to move forward. You’ll also get a feel for how I work, ask any questions, and decide if my approach is right for you. No pressure—just a conversation about what’s possible.

How to Verify Your Out-of-Network Benefits

Contact your insurance provider to understand how your plan compensates for psychotherapy services. Here are key questions to ask:

  1. Mental Health Coverage: Does my health insurance plan include mental health benefits, and are therapy sessions reimbursed for out-of-network providers?

  2. Deductible: What is my deductible, and have I met it yet? When does reimbursement begin?

  3. Session Limits: Does my plan limit the number of therapy sessions per year? If so, what is the limit?

  4. Pre-Authorization: Do I need approval from my primary care physician or insurance for therapy sessions to be covered?

Additional Tips

Reimbursement Rates: Ask what percentage of the session fee will be reimbursed (typically 40-80%) and whether there’s a cap on reimbursement amounts.

  • Documentation: Confirm if you need specific paperwork (e.g., superbills) from  your therapist for claims.

  • Specialized Services: Check if your plan covers specialized therapies that may not be available in-network.

This isn’t just therapy. This is the moment you start breaking cycles. If you’re ready to invest in real healing, I’m here.
